Submitted by hradmin on Wed, 2008-06-11 07:12.In an overwhelming majority, the voters of Centennial decided to seize control of their city and their own destiny and take Centennial Home Rule.
With 19,877 votes counted in the June 10th election, there were 13,441 yes votes to 6,436 no votes. The charter passed with 67% of the vote.
Thank you to all of you who supported our efforts. This was an amazing team effort with countless hours spent by volunteers educating their fellow citizens.
Now we can take our city forward into the future.

Former Councilman Moon Endorses Home Rule
Dear Editor,
I have read and listened to the various comments, pro and con, made recently about Home Rule for Centennial. From what I have seen and heard, I feel compelled to make a few observations.
First, for the opponents to Home Rule for Centennial to say that “Centennial is not ready or mature enough for Home Rule” is both ludicrous and insulting to me and every other responsible citizen who voted to incorporate for Self-Determination. To say that we are not capable of governing ourselves instead of being governed by the State Legislature, not only insults us but it indicates how little the opponents of Home Rule know about Centennial and her citizens. We are adult, mature and informed Centennial citizens and we are more than capable of governing ourselves.
